“The Order of Christian Initiation… is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments fruitfully.”

About OCIA

OCIA is a process for those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or joining the Catholic Church. OCIA classes began in August. Classes are held each Tuesday evening at 6:30PM in the Church. If you would just like a refresher on your Catholic faith please join us.

There are four periods of OCIA:

  • Inquiry: For those who have even a casual interest in the Catholic faith, this is a time to ask questions and see what Catholicism is all about. It offers a perfect opportunity to find out if this is the right time to complete their Christian journey.
  • Catechumenate: This is a time of serious spiritual learning and an opportunity to explore the deep riches in the Catholic Church. One does this by learning about the Mass, the Sacraments, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Purification & Enlightenment:  This is an intense preparation to complete the Sacraments of Initiation.
  • Mystagogy: This period begins to explore what it means to be a new member of the Catholic Faith.  Newly initiated members are encouraged to find their gifts and talents and put them to work to help build the Kingdom of God.

If you or someone you know is interested in OCIA, please contact the Church office.  (318) 325-7549
